摘要: A study of nonlinear competitive adsorption equilibria of proteins is of fundamental importance in understanding the behavior of preparative chromatographic separation. This work describes the nonlinear binary protein adsorption equilibria on ion exchangers by the statistical thermodynamic (ST) model. The single-component and binary protein adsorption isotherms of bovine hemoglobin (Hb) and bovine serum albumin (BSA) on SP Sepharose FF were determined by batch adsorption experiments in 0.05 mol/L sodium acetate buffer at three pH values (4.5, 5.0 and 5.5) and three NaCl concentrations (0.05, 0.10 and 0.15 mol/L) at pH 5.0. The ST model was found to depict the effects of pH and ionic strength on the single-component equilibria well, with model parameters depending on the pH and ionic strength. Moreover, the ST model gave acceptable fitting to the binary adsorption data with the fitted single-component model parameters, leading to the estimation of the binary ST model parameter. The effects of pH and ionic strength on the model parameters are reasonably interpreted by the electrostatic and thermodynamic theories. Results demonstrate the availability of the ST model for describing nonlinear competitive protein adsorption equilibria in the presence of two proteins.

Novel 1,2,3-triazole-based compounds: Iodo effect on their gelation behavior and cation response

摘要: Two new series of 1,2,3-triazole derivatives, with and without iodo substitution, were synthesized and their gelation properties were measured. It was found that the iodo substitution at position 5 of triazole ring could greatly enhance the gelation ability. Scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction reveal that the structures of the organogels from iodo and hydrogenous gelators are totally different. Iodo gels are selectively responsive to the stimuli of Hg , whereas hydrogenous gels can respond to Hg and Cu . Moreover, the reversible gel-sol transition of hydrogenous gels can be controlled by redox reaction or tuned with suitable chemicals. The single crystal analysis of reference compound ( ) suggests that there are intermolecular and intramolecular non-classical hydrogen bonding interactions but no π-π interaction in hydrogenous gelator. The great difference between the two series of compounds results from the iodo effect and implies the existence of halogen bonding interaction in the iodo compounds.

A new regeneration approach to cation resins with aluminum salts: application of desalination by its

摘要: A novel method for the regeneration of cation exchange resins by aluminum (Al) salts was investigated in order to improve the regeneration efficiency of resins and reduce the dosage of regenerant. The influences of Al concentration and the pH of regeneration solution on resin transformation had been studied. The desalination experiments were carried out to evaluate the characteristics of the Al form resins. Experimental results showed that the regeneration rate of resins was strictly dependent on Al concentration and the pH of the solution. Compared to the conventional regeneration method, the Al form mixed bed exhibited the same desalination capability as the H form mixed bed (MB), and the total organic carbon (TOC) removal was up to 90%, clearly higher than that of the H form. Al salt solution could be utilized repeatedly to regenerate Al form resins.

Preparation and characterization of EVAL hollow fiber membrane adsorbents filled with cation exchange

摘要: EVAL hollow fiber membrane adsorbents filled with powder D061-type cation exchange resin were prepared through dry-wet spinning process, using hydrophilic copolymer EVAL as the fiber substrate. The microstructures of the membrane adsorbents were observed, and the pure water fluxes, BSA rejection, and static adsorption capacities of membrane adsorbents for BSA were measured. The effect of the resin-filled content on membrane performance has been discussed. The results showed that EVAL hollow fiber membrane adsorbents filled with D061-type cation exchange resins had good adsorption capacity, and the adsorption capacity increased with the quantity of the resin-filled content. The static protein adsorption capacity was 77.14 mg BSA/g membrane adsorbents when D061 resin loading content was 65% at pH 4.5.

Fabrication of high-capacity cation-exchangers for protein adsorption: Comparison of grafting-from and

摘要: In this work, we have synthesized two polymer-grafted cation exchangers: one via the grafting-from approach, in which sulfopropyl methacrylate (SPM) is grafted through atom transfer radical polymerization onto Sepharose FF (the thus resulting exchanger is referred as Sep- -SPM), and another via the grafting-to approach, in which the polymer of SPM is directly coupled onto Sepharose FF (the thus resulting exchanger is called as Sep- SPM). Protein adsorption on these two cation exchangers have been also investigated. At the same ligand density, Sep- -SPM has a larger accessible pore radius and a smaller depth of polymer layer than Sep- SPM, due to the controllable introduction of polymer chains with the regular distribution of the ligand. Therefore, high-capacity adsorption of lysozyme and -globulin could be achieved simultaneously in Sep- -SPM with an ionic capacity (IC) of 308 mmol·L . However, Sep- SPM has an irregular chain distribution and different architecture of polymer layer, which lead to more serious repulsive interaction to proteins, and thus Sep- SPM has a lower adsorption capacity for -globulin than Sep- -SPM with the similar IC. Moreover, the results from protein uptake experiments indicate that the facilitated transport of adsorbed -globulin occurs only in Sep- SPM and depends on the architecture of polymer layers. Our research provides a clear clue for the development of high-performance protein chromatography.

Cation exchange resin supported nanoscale zero-valent iron for removal of phosphorus in rainwater runoff

摘要: Self-made cation exchange resin supported nanoscale zero-valent iron (R-nZVI) was used to remove phosphorus in rainwater runoff. 80% of phosphorus in rainwater runoff from grassland was removed with an initial concentration of 0.72 mg·L phosphorus when the dosage of R-nZVI is 8 g per liter rainwater, while only 26% of phosphorus was removed when using cation exchange resin without supported nanoscale zero-valent iron under the same condition. The adsorption capacity of R-nZVI increased up to 185 times of that of the cation exchange resin at a saturated equilibrium phosphorous concentration of 0.42 mg·L . Various techniques were implemented to characterize the R-nZVI and explore the mechanism of its removal of phosphate. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) indicated that new crystal had been formed on the surface of R-nZVI. The result from inductive coupled plasma (ICP) indicated that 2.1% of nZVI was loaded on the support material. The specific surface area was increased after the load of nanoscale zero-valent iron (nZVI), according to the measurement of BET-N method. The result of specific surface area analysis also proved that phosphorus was removed mainly through chemical adsorption process. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis showed that the new product obtained from chemical reaction between phosphate and iron was ferrous phosphate.

Metal cation removal by P(VC-r-AA) copolymer ultrafiltration membranes

摘要: A series of amphiphilic copolymers containing poly(vinyl chloride-r-acrylic acid) (P(VC-r-AA) ) was synthesized and used to prepare membranes via a non-solvent induced phase separation method. The prepared membranes were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and water contact angle and zeta potential measurements. The copolymer P(VC-r-AA) chains did not dissolved in a coagulation bath, indicating that the AA segments were completely retained within the membrane. Enriching degree of AA segments in surface layer was 2 for copolymer membrane. In addition, the introduction of AA segments made the membrane electronegative and hydrophilic so that the membrane was sensitive to the solution pH. The fouling resistance, adsorption of Cu(II), Cr(III) and Ce(IV) ions and the desorption properties of the membranes were also determined. The copolymer membranes exhibited good antifouling performance with a fouling reversibility of 92%. The membranes also had good adsorption capacities for Cu(II), Cr(III) and Ce(IV) ions. The optimal pH for Cu(II) adsorption was 6 and the copolymer membrane has potential applications for low concentration Cu(II) removal.

Application and development of modern long-span space structures in China

摘要: Modern long-span space structures, developed during the 1970s and 1980s, are light and effective structures based on new technologies and light-weight high-strength materials, such as membranes and steel cables. These structures include air-supported membrane structures, cable-membrane structures, cable truss structures, beam string structures, suspen-domes, cable domes, composite structures of cable dome and single-layer lattice shell, Tensairity structures and so forth. For the premodern space structures widely used since the mid-twentieth century (such as thin shells, space trusses, lattice shells and ordinary cable structures), new space structures have been developed by the combination of different structural forms and materials. The application of prestressing technology and the innovation of structural concepts and configurations are also associated with modern space structures, including composite space trusses, open-web grid structures, polyhedron space frame structures, partial double-layer lattice shells, cable-stayed grid structures, tree-type structures, prestressed segmental steel structures and so forth. This paper provides a review of the structural characteristics and practical applications in China of modern rigid space structures, modern flexible space structures and modern rigid-flexible combined space structures.

Practical optimization of deployable and scissor-like structures using a fast GA method

摘要: This paper addresses practical sizing optimization of deployable and scissor-like structures from a new point of view. These structures have been recently highly regarded for beauty, lightweight, determine behavior, proper performance against lateral loads and the ability of been compactly packaged. At this time, there is a few studies done considering practical optimization of these structures. Loading considered here includes wind and gravity loads. In foldable scissor-like structures, connections have a complex behavior. For this reason, in this study, the authors used the ABAQUS commercial package as an analyzer in the optimization procedure. This made the obtained optimal solutions highly reliable from the point of view of applicability and construction requirements. Also, to do optimization task, a fast genetic algorithm method, which has been recently introduced by authors, was utilized. Optimization results show that despite less weight for aluminum models than steel models, aluminum deployable structures are not affordable because they need more material than steel structures and cause more environmental damage.

淡水室填充阳离子交换树脂的EDI膜堆对镍离子溶液分离性能的研究

采用淡水室填充阳离子交换树脂的电去离子(EDI)膜堆来处理低浓度含镍废水,考察了该EDI 膜堆用于低浓度重金属废水处理的可行性,并探讨了膜堆电压和料液流量对EDI 分离重金属离子性能的影响。结果表明,对于Ni2+浓度为50 mg/L,pH为4.5 的料液工况,操作电压为25 V,料液处理量为20 L/h 时,可保证淡水产水Ni2+浓度在2 mg/L以下,且浓缩水Ni2+浓度大于900 mg/L,电流效率达到24.2 %。

单价选择性阳离子交换膜(M-CEMs)已被广泛应用于环境修复和能量收集等领域,例如,从卤水和海水中提取Na+或Li+。然而,由于膜结构和材料的限制,M-CEMs存在渗透选择性低的问题。在此,我们提出了一种简单的方法以构建具有电荷Janus结构的新型M-CEMs,该结构由荷正电的均苯三甲酸/聚乙烯亚胺选择层和荷负电的商业阳离子交换膜(CEM)组成。选择性电渗析(SED)分析结果表明,具有电荷Janus结构的M-CEMs可以有效抑制多孔阳离子交换膜中存在的阴离子迁移问题,因而使这种具有电荷Janus结构的M-CEMs具有较高的渗透选择性和总阳离子通量。与最先进的单价选择性阳离子交换膜的分离性能相比,具有电荷Janus结构的M-CEMs对于Na+/Mg2+的最高渗透选择性可以达到145.77,这超过了目前单价选择性阳离子交换膜性能的“上限”,且对于Li+/Mg2+也具有优异的渗透选择性(14.11),在离子分离领域具有巨大的应用潜力。这项研究可以为具有电荷Janus结构的M-CEMs的设计提供新的见解,并应用于不同的环境和能源领域。

Effect of / molecular structures on pyrolysis performance and heat sink of decalin isomers

摘要: Decalin is considered as an important compound of high-energy-density endothermic fuel, which is an ideal on-board coolant for thermal management of advanced aircraft. However, decalin contains two isomers with a tunable composition, and their effects on the pyrolysis performance, such as the heat sink and coking tendency have not been demonstrated. Herein, we investigated the pyrolysis of decalin isomers, i.e., cis-decalin, trans-decalin and their mixtures (denoted as mix-decalin), in order to clarify the effects of the cis-/trans-structures on the pyrolysis performance of decalin fuels. The pyrolysis results confirmed that conversion of the tested fuels (600–725 °C, 4 MPa) decreased in the order cis-decalin > mix-decalin > trans-decalin. Detailed analyses of the pyrolysis products were used to compare the product distributions from cis-decalin, mix-decalin and trans-decalin, and the yields of some typical components (such as cyclohexene, 1-methylcyclohexene, benzene and toluene) showed significant differences, which could be ascribed to deeper cracking of cis-decalin. Additionally, the heat sinks and coking tendencies of the decalins decreased in the order cis-decalin > mix-decalin > trans-decalin. This work demonstrates the relationship between the cis/trans structures and the pyrolysis performance of decalin, which provides a better understanding of the structure-activity relationships of endothermic hydrocarbon fuels.

Lateral shear performance of sheathed post-and-beam wooden structures with small panels

摘要: Sheathed post-and-beam wooden structures are distinct from light-wood structures. They allow for using sheathing panels that are smaller (0.91 m × 1.82 m) than standard-sized panels (1.22 m × 2.44 m or 2.44 m × 2.44 m). Evidence indicates that nail spacing and panel thickness determine the lateral capacity of the wood frame shear walls. To verify the lateral shear performance of wood frame shear walls with smaller panels, we subjected 13 shear walls, measuring 0.91 m in width and 2.925 m in height, to a low-cycle cyclic loading test with three kinds of nail spacing and three panel thicknesses. A nonlinear numerical simulation analysis of the wall was conducted using ABAQUS finite element (FE) software, where a custom nonlinear spring element was used to simulate the sheathing-frame connection. The results indicate that the hysteretic performance of the walls was mainly determined by the hysteretic performance of the sheathing-frame connection. When same nail specifications were adopted, the stiffness and bearing capacity of the walls were inversely related to the nail spacing and directly related to the panel thickness. The shear wall remained in the elastic stage when the drift was 1/250 rad and ductility coefficients were all greater than 2.5, which satisfied the deformation requirements of residential structures. Based on the test and FE analysis results, the shear strength of the post-and-beam wooden structures with sheathed walls was determined.

A numerical framework for underground structures in layered ground under inclined P-SV waves using stiffness

摘要: A numerical framework was proposed for the seismic analysis of underground structures in layered ground under inclined P-SV waves. The free-field responses are first obtained using the stiffness matrix method based on plane-wave assumptions. Then, the domain reduction method was employed to reproduce the wavefield in the numerical model of the soil–structure system. The proposed numerical framework was verified by providing comparisons with analytical solutions for cases involving free-field responses of homogeneous ground, layered ground, and pressure-dependent heterogeneous ground, as well as for an example of a soil–structure interaction simulation. Compared with the viscous and viscous-spring boundary methods adopted in previous studies, the proposed framework exhibits the advantage of incorporating oblique incident waves in a nonlinear heterogeneous ground. Numerical results show that SV-waves are more destructive to underground structures than P-waves, and the responses of underground structures are significantly affected by the incident angles.
